mayaNomics Forum for GeoEconomics - Investment, Trade, Business, and Diplomacy

An Introduction to mayaNomics Forum and why you should join.

Welcome, everyone. My name is Maya Suresh Kannan. I am the convenor of the Mayanomics Geoeconomics Forum and the creator of the MayaNomics framework for geoeconomics in investments and trade. The Mayanomics Forum is a premier platform that stands at the intersection of policy, investments, and deep tech innovation. Today, in this video, I will explore on your behalf not just the global economic challenges we face, but also how the MayaNomics Forum aims to build the tools, dialogues, and communities to navigate these economic and geopolitical problems. In a world of rapid geopolitical shifts, digital disruption, and complex global supply chains, how can nations build a competitive advantage? How can corporations stay ahead of their competitors? How can investors find true, lasting value beyond market dynamics or noise? What kind of framework do industry leaders need to navigate this complexity? This is where the geoeconomics frameworks and the forum I created come into play. Let’s first discuss the genesis of the forum. The fundamental problem that the Mayanomics Forum was created to solve is the gap that exists between geopolitics and economics, which are still frequently discussed separately. However, geopolitics and economics function like a two-tier gear system; one affects the other. The primary objective of MayaNomics is to bridge the gap between these two schools of thought, using geoeconomics as the glue that brings them together. So, what is geoeconomics? It is the application of economic tools for strategic outcomes. That's the simplest definition of geoeconomics. In our current world—multipolar, multilateral, and digitally transformed—the use of these tools has become more necessary than ever. Now, let’s discuss the crisis at hand. Right now, world leaders, including those in political and corporate leadership, are making powerful decisions based on incomplete data. Much of this data lacks the core value or essential information necessary for making strong decisions to guide nations or corporations moving forward. There are significant systemic interconnections between these discrete data points, which I refer to as "data capsules." Each data capsule must be embedded with intelligence and the forces that will act upon that intelligence. This is what I call the "karma capsule." Through the forum, we aim to create a global platform for geoeconomic intelligence and innovation in policies and processes to equip decision-makers, whether from the investment world, corporate sector, or policy-making bodies. Now, let’s delve into the framework itself. The Mayanomics Forum is built on the MayaNomics framework, which I published earlier this year in my book, "MayaNomics: Geoeconomics for the Digitally Transformed World." I have not published this framework anywhere else for various reasons. The MayaNomics Forum will use this framework as a foundation to guide its activities. It provides a practical approach for increasing competitiveness in a digitally transformed world for every entity within a nation’s boundaries, including corporate investment houses. The major problem with the current systems is a shift in perspective. Many of the measurements currently used, such as GDP and other comfortable metrics that nations rely on, often yield useless data. However, this is how the world operates today. The MayaNomics framework focuses on architecting a national wealth architecture through sovereign funds, trade, digital asset strategies, and innovation ecosystems to connect various components. This framework can be adapted at multiple levels, from nations and champion organizations to medium to large-sized corporations and investment houses. Our goal at the Mayanomics Forum is not to advise anyone on trade deals or similar matters; rather, we aim to develop constructive socioeconomic models. These models will be based not only on the MayaNomics framework but also on other ideas and strategies brought to life by the contributing members of society. Additionally, we recognize the significant impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
